2 Time Management/Hyperfocus

Problems in Reality:

Hyperfocus: People with ADHD can also concentrate well, but then they get into a flow-like state and forget about time and everything around them

Every detail seems equally important. ADHD people tend to get bogged down

Tasks in everyday professional and private life are pathologically postponed and not completed

Frequent lateness due to incorrect assessment of activities and their time requirements

Problems in Digital:

2.1 Getting lost in navigation structures and tabs

Specialize in a clear user journey for your target group. Make it simple as possible and complex as necessary.

2.2 Users are getting bogged down in tasks

Try always to remind the users what they are doing here and why, show the path with good breadcrumb navigation and good headings as well as options to move back and undo actions.

2.3 Time-blindness in Hyperfocus

Prevent your application from hiding the system clock or remind users to take a break after hours using your platform.

2.4 Time interruptions for loading and progress

ADHD users easily drop out if they are not informed about the loading progress.

2.5 Hyperlink and leaving the page

ADHD users get bogged down in dozens of open tabs and forget about time. Don't let users drift off. If you are using hyperlinks, make the user aware of clicking by adding a marker like "this link opens a new page" or showing a dialogue like "Sure you want to leave this article?"

2.6 Time limitations on forms and paying progresses

If possible avoid time limits or give the user the option of extending the time (like + 5 min) and provide a reminder.
